Joslyn Center To Host Free COVID-19 Testing In Palm Desert

The Joslyn Center, in collaboration with Desert Healthcare Foundation and Coachella Valley Equity Collaborative will hold a COVID-19 testing clinic on Saturday, March 13 from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. The free, contactless testing will be held on The Joslyn Center campus located at 73-750 Catalina Way, Palm Desert.

Curative self-administered testing kits will be used with healthcare workers overseeing the process. Directions will be available in both English and Spanish. Results are generally available in two to three days. Appointments are available utilizing a QR Code on informational flyers distributed in the community and are strongly recommended. Walk-in testing will also be available.

While there are other testing sites throughout the Coachella Valley, this one was specifically set up to provide underserved communities access to testing. Outreach will be focused on the Latino community and senior population. “As senior centers have long been viewed as a trusted community resource, we are excited to present this opportunity to our local Latino and senior neighbors,” said Jack Newby, executive director of The Joslyn Center.

“Our goal is to establish parity in the fight against Covid-19 and in health care in general,” said Will Dean, director of communications and marketing at Desert Healthcare Foundation. “For as long as the pandemic lasts, we will continue to work with our community partners to do whatever we can to alleviate the systemic inequities we are seeing play out in access to health care across the country.”
