La Quinta's Annual Veterans Day Ceremony Happening Nov. 11

From the City of La Quinta: The City of La Quinta is scheduled to hold its annual November 11 Veterans Day ceremony in the City Hall Courtyard at 9:00 a.m. to thank La Quinta veterans from all branches of the military for their service and sacrifice for their country. Immediately, there will be a flyover jet from the Palm Springs Air Museum at 9:02 a.m.

The ceremony will include music by the La Quinta High School Wind Symphony and a special display of American Flag art pieces lovingly created by a group of talented young ladies from participating valley high schools representing the nonprofit Ophelia Project. The flag art by these students will line the walls around the courtyard during the event.

Mayor Linda Evans, members of the City Council, and special guest speaker Assemblyman Chad Mayes will present the program. After the ceremony, guests are encouraged to take the short walk to Civic Center Park to view the Veterans Acknowledgement art piece that carries the name and military branch of every La Quinta veteran who has been a participant or acknowledged in prior ceremonies. Seating is reserved for veterans with any remaining chairs available on a first come, first served basis.

“Veterans Day in La Quinta is always incredibly special because it’s the City’s opportunity to honor and thank those men and women who served,” said Mayor Evans. “We can never repay what they sacrificed to protect our country and our families. We will never forget each of them and will honor them every single year. Please join us in our ceremony to show your appreciation to our Veteran residents.”
