Memorial Service to be Held Saturday for Art Museum Director of Development
Greg Polzin was a driving force behind the museums in Palm Desert and Palm Springs.

PALM SPRINGS, CA --- A memorial gathering will be held tomorrow for Greg Polzin, the Palm Springs Art Museum's director of development, who died last month.  Â
The "celebration of life'' event for Polzin, who died May 22 at age 51 following a short battle with pancreatic cancer, will begin at 4 p.m. in the museum's Annenberg Theatre.
The Washington native graduated from Seattle Pacific University in 1987 and held positions in nonprofit fundraising and management with the Arizona Human Rights Fund, Scottsdale Center for the Arts and the Desert AIDS Project in Palm Springs before joining the museum staff in 2010.  Â

According to museum representatives, Polzin "played a critical role in the creation of the museum's two satellite facilities in Palm Desert and in Palm Springs.''  Â
He is survived by his mother, Shirley M. Polzin of Palm Springs, his partner, B. Kevin McBride, and "numerous close friends that he considered to be family,'' according to a museum statement.
