Palm Desert Closes Traffic Lanes For Construction

From The City of Palm Desert: Adjacent residential construction is forcing round-the-clock lane closures on Portola Avenue and Country Club Drive for several weeks.

The number two (slow lane) on eastbound Country Club is closed from the entrance to Villa Portofino to Portola Avenue and the number two (slow) lane on southbound Portola is closed from Country Club to Hovley Lane West.

While the closures are unrelated to the Coachella Valley Water District’s work at Hovley and Portola, the two projects are increasing traffic and significantly slowing vehicle movement through the area. City workers are adjusting signals in the area to improve traffic flow.

Motorists are encouraged to allow extra time or avoid the area and use alternate routes such as Monterey Avenue, Frank Sinatra Drive, or Cook Street.
