PALM SPRINGS, CA — The City of Palm Springs announced Thursday it will have additional Code Compliance Officers on duty over Super Bowl weekend to enforce the state's face-mask order requiring coverings be worn in public settings.

The officers are "charged with enforcing the order and educating anyone not wearing a face covering about the importance of following the rules. Face coverings will also be provided, if needed," according to the city's statement.

The city has been committed to following state orders and at times has issued more stringent requirements in an effort to mitigate COVID-19 spread.
