Palm Springs Closing All Park Parking Lots To Slow Coronavirus
Palm Springs has announced that the parking lots at all city parks are being closed as part of the county's emergency order.
PALM SPRINGS, CA — As of Friday April 10, all parking lots at city parks have been closed in Palm Springs.
The city says it has closed the lots as part of the county's Emergency Order, which says that only people who live within walking distance can still use parks and trails.
Palm City's decision to shut down the parks and trails to visitors is another way they're trying to encourage residents to shelter in place and avoid spreading the disease through the community.

The move is part of a nationwide effort to enforce social distancing to slow the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. Cities across the country are trying many different tactics to enforce social distancing, but the general rule from the scientific community has been that everyone should keep roughly six feet of personal space between themselves and anyone who is not a part of their household.
The city is also encouraging everyone to stay home unless they are leaving for absolutely essential services like buying food or visiting a doctor.
