RV Fire Spreads To Nearby Brush In Desert Hot Springs

A firefighter suffered a heat-related illness Monday battling a blaze that fully engulfed an RV.

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA — It took firefighters over an hour to contain the flames that burned a mobile home, recreational vehicle and surrounding vegetation in Desert Hot Springs Monday.

The blaze was reported at 11:17 a.m. in the 64000 block of Douglas Way, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. Crews said the mobile home and recreational vehicle were "fully involved in fire" when they arrived at the location. The fire later spread to surrounding vegetation.

"Six additional engines were started to the incident due to extreme heat. Firefighters are making good progress and are currently working on rehab and overhaul," fire officials tweeted at 12:26 p.m.

A firefighter was taken to a hospital with a heat-related illness that was non-life threatening.

The fire was contained at 12:30 p.m.
