Sponsorships and Donations Raised for GirlFriend Factor

GirlFriend Factor is a local nonprofit philanthropic organization dedicated to helping women reach their potential and achieve their goals.

PALM DESERT, CA – GirlFriend Factor, a local nonprofit philanthropic organization dedicated to helping women reach their potential and achieve their goals through higher education and occupational training, celebrated its 10thanniversary during its annual GoGirl! Luncheon, while raising $25,000 in sponsorships and donations. In addition, the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation presented a $25,000 Coachella Valley Spotlight grant at the event.

With more than 200 guests joining the luncheon on November 1, at The Pavilion at Indian Wells Golf Resort, the event was emceed by Karen Devine of KESQ along with co-emcee Jan Harnik, Mayor Pro Tem for City of Palm Desert. The celebration featured an Inspiration Awards ceremony recognizing instrumental women in the community who have made a significant impact on the lives of others. Awards were presented to local philanthropist Madeline Redstone, Kate Spates of Kate Spates Consulting, and Katie Sween, Administrator of Educational Advancement for Girlfriend Factor.

Primary sponsors supporting GirlFriend Factor include Cloud Consulting Partners, Donna MacMillan, College of the Desert Foundation and Spotlight 29 Casino. During the luncheon GirlFactor announced it will increase grants beginning in January 2017, from $2,000 to $3,000 per person, per year. The $25,000 Coachella Valley Spotlight funding will be used to implement a public awareness campaign about the importance of education and types of assistance available.

Girlfriend Factor believes women should have the opportunity to receive an education without being straddled with long-term financial debt. To date the organization has awarded over $350,000 to over 120 women with GoGirl! Grants. Launched in 2006, Girlfriend Factor is a nonprofit organization that aims to ensure that higher education and occupational training are financially accessible to adult women, ages 25 and older, who choose to improve their economic position in life and who strive for self-sufficiency. While providing educational grants to women to achieve their educational goals, the organization also celebrates and explores the powerful influence women have on each other's lives through building friendships, and sharing experiences.
