Veterans Day doubles as Treaty Day for the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians. On November 11, 1895, President Grover Cleveland mandated through an Act of Congress for the relief of Mission Indians in the State of California, and executed a treaty to secure reservation land. The treaty defined the land for the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians, those who own and operate Spotlight 29 Casino and Tortoise Rock Casino.
