Temperatures Drop Slightly in RivCo, Thunderstorms Possible

Temperatures should cool off Wednesday throughout Riverside County, and lingering moisture could create a chance of thunderstorms.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA -- Temperatures are expected to cool off throughout Riverside County on Wednesday, and lingering monsoonal moisture will create a chance of thunderstorms in the mountains and deserts, according to the National Weather Service.

The Riverside County mountains, the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning and the Coachella Valley all have a slight chance of thunderstorms this afternoon, the Weather Service says.

Skies in those areas are expected to clear up by tonight as conditions dry off and heat up heading into the weekend, forecasters said.

The chance of measurable precipitation has been set at 20 percent Wednesday in the mountains, the Coachella Valley and the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning.

High temperatures are expected to reach 94 degrees in Riverside, 103 in Palm Springs, 94 in the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning and 85 in Temecula.

The mercury will begin to rise again on Thursday, with temperatures in the Riverside metropolitan area expected to reach the low 100s by Saturday, forecasters said.
