PALO ALTO, CA—California’s largest Great Glass Pumpkin Patch will celebrate its 25th anniversary a little differently this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

For the very first time, the Great Glass Pumpkin Patch Goes will go virtual. Rather than a physical event, it will feature an online sale Sept. 24-Oct. 4 to benefit the artists, as well as the event sponsors, the Bay Area Glass Institute (BAGI) and the Palo Alto Art Center Foundation.

More than 25 artists take months to hand-blow and hand-craft the more than 10,000 beautiful glass pumpkins, which range from teeny-tiny to gargantuan.

“The Great Glass Pumpkin Patch artists, whose sales have been affected by COVID-19 this year, will greatly appreciate your patronage and generosity,” said Sarah Corneille, operations manager at BAGI. “The selection of hundreds of pumpkins will be amazing.”

“The Great Glass Pumpkin Patch is also an important fund-raiser for two vital community organizations — the Bay Area Glass Institute and the Palo Alto Art Center Foundation — working to provide vital arts programs to the community during this challenging time,” said Karen Kienzle, director of the Palo Alto Art Center.
