Here is a guide to fireworks shows, parades, celebrations and other Fourth of July events happening around Santa Clara County and the South Bay. Leading up to July 4th, which falls on a Tuesday this year, you'll find that plenty of events are taking place the weekend prior -- and they all end with a bang on Independence Day.

Palo Alto

• Tuesday, July 4: A fireworks show at Stanford Stadium as part of the San Jose Earthquakes vs. L.A. Galaxy game
• Tuesday, July 4: 36th annual Palo Alto Summer Festival and Chili Festival, noon to 5 p.m., Mitchell Park

Mountain View

• Tuesday, July 4: San Francisco Symphony 4th of July Spectacular, 8 p.m., Shoreline Amphitheater

Cupertino
