Churches Across Peninsula To Hold Vigil In George Floyd's Memory
The vigil, sponsored by 20 churches in the Peninsula, will take place three days before the one-year anniversary of George Floyd's death.
PALO ALTO, CA — Three days before the one-year anniversary of George Floyd’s death, a group of Peninsula churches will hold a vigil in Floyd’s memory in Palo Alto.
On Saturday, Palo Alto City Hall will host 20 other local churches in an event with a goal of "promoting racial justice and safety for all people in the Silicon Valley and in our country." The churches also acknowledged that the recent surge in anti-Asian hate makes clear that “we must continue to fight and pray against division and violence.”
Speakers at the event include East Palo Alto Councilmember Antonio Lopez and pastors from churches around the Peninsula.
