SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — After administering over 350,000 vaccinations, Levi’s Stadium’s COVID-19 mass vaccination site will wind down on June 24, Santa Clara County announced on Monday.

In a news release, county officials cited an “optimistic COVID-19 outlook” resulting in lesser demand for large-scale vaccination sites. The case rate in Santa Clara County has slowed to less than 2 per day per 100,000 people and nearly 80 percent of eligible residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

“We have come so far since our county’s vaccination rollout began in December 2020,” said Dr. Jennifer Tong, Associate Chief Medical Officer for Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. “Thanks to collaboration with organizations like the 49ers, Santa Clara County has one of the highest vaccination rates in the nation. The County will continue to tailor our vaccination program to meet the evolving needs of the community, but there is no question that the site at Levi’s Stadium played a critical role in getting us this far.”

Anyone who received the first dose of the vaccine from Levi’s Stadium and needs a second dose of the vaccine after the site closes can do so at other sites throughout the county.

County officials said they will prioritize smaller vaccination sites and continue outreach to those who have not yet been vaccinated.

49ers President Al Guido said he was proud that the team’s home stadium played a role in protecting the community against COVID-19.

“We want to thank everyone who has been involved in the process,” Guido said. “Several hundred healthcare workers and support staff played a critical role in making the Levi’s Stadium vaccination site so successful. This was a significant operation and we are so appreciative of everyone’s shared commitment to our community.”
