Desperate Donation Call: East Palo Alto Charity Is Sorely In Need

East Palo Alto’s Ecumenical Hunger Program is asking for emergency donations of toys and gifts because their supplies are desperately low, according to the agency’s resource coordinator.

Charlotte Brown from the nonprofit said this year’s need is far greater than usual and, to compound the issue, donations are down as well. The program provides food and services to low-income and homeless people in East Palo Alto, Menlo Park and the surrounding areas.

Brown said they are most in need of gifts for children and teenagers from 8 to 18 years of age. She said gift cards of $15 to $25 are especially helpful.

Families who have pre-registered with EHP are picking up holiday bags of food and then will visit the agency’s gift distribution area.

Donations can be dropped off at 2411 Pulgas Ave. in East Palo Alto or can be made online at www.ehpcares.org. EHP is open for donations until 5 p.m. today, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday, and 9 a.m. until noon Wednesday.
