We caught up with Sanad Alsouz, founder and CEO of Grillbox, to learn more about the innovative company.

Patch: How long have you been doing business in town?

Alsouz: Grillbox was launched in July 2019.

Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?

Alsouz: I came up with the idea for Grillbox when I was planning an American-themed BBQ party to celebrate my U.S. citizenship. When I started shopping for the party, I was amazed at the time, cost and wasted food I experienced. The party was a hit, but I knew there had to be a better way. When I called my friend Alex, who has owned and operated restaurants for 10 years, he was immediately sold, and we started working on Grillbox right away.

Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?

Alsouz: Ultimate grilling meal kit experience

Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?

Alsouz: As a delivery-only food startup, spreading the word about Grillbox has been the most challenging part. Typically, food establishments rely on footfall for exposure; and since our presence is online only and limited to our delivery zones, we have to be creative and efficient with our marketing efforts.

Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?

Alsouz: I am passionate about designing for user experience and "feel," which I learned while managing design projects for consumer electronics. I get super excited when we add small details, such as bamboo tongs or wet wipes, that enhance the overall user experience.

Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?

Alsouz: Apart from being the only non-subscription-based meal kit delivery service, we created this brand with one thing in mind: customer satisfaction. We studied and created every aspect of the customer journey, from the user-friendly order interface to the patty thickness, as well as sourcing quality ingredients, cutting the lettuce in a circular shape for easy stacking and a heavily insulated thermal bag for maximum freshness upon delivery.

Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?

Alsouz: Be prepared. if you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail.

Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about?

Alsouz: We are working on bringing the Grillbox experience to catering for companies. We want to offer fresh, customized and fun catering experiences that do not cost an arm and a leg. If you want your team to think outside the box, get them Grillbox!

Patch: Do you have any events coming up in your community?

Alsouz: We are active in setting up events in the community, but due to the unfortunate conditions with COVID-19, we are following social distancing guidelines for everyone’s safety.

Patch: How can Patch readers learn more about your work and business?
