James Franco Responds To Sexual Misconduct Allegations On Colbert
James Franco, who recently won a Golden Globe, was accused by two actresses on Twitter of sexual misconduct -- during the awards show.
PALO ALTO, CA -- Golden Globe winner James Franco on Tuesday night denied allegations that he ever sexually mistreated a woman. In response to accusations made on Twitter during the weekend awards show, Franco told Stephen Colbert that they were "not accurate."
Franco won a Golden Globe on Sunday for the "Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy" category for his portrayal of Tommy Wiseau in the movie, "This Disaster Artist." During the awards show, Franco joined other celebrities in wearing a "Time's Up" pin, a movement created by Hollywood's most popular women in an effort to combat sexism and sexual misconduct.
But, during his acceptance speech, two actresses took it to Twitter to say Franco behaved inappropriately toward them. Actress Alley Sheedy, who worked with Franco in 2014 on the play "The Long Shrift," tweeted "James Franco won. Please never ask me why I left film/tv business." Soon after, she deleted the tweet.

In response, Franco told Colbert, "I have no idea what I did to Ally Sheedy. I had nothing but a great time with her."
Lesser known actress Violet Paley also tweeted "Cute #TIMESUP pin James Franco. Remember the time you pushed my head down in a car towards your exposed penis & that other time you told my friend to come to your hotel when she was 17? After you had already been caught doing that to a different 17 year old?"

Paley was referring to a 2014 incident when an underage girl said Franco attempted to meet her a hotel after communication on Instagram.
"Look, in my life, I pride myself in taking responsibility for the things I've done," said Franco, who lives in Palo Alto. "I have to do that to maintain my well-being. The things I've heard on Twitter were not accurate, but I completely support people coming out and having a voice. I don't want to shut them down in any way."
Franco said he wore the "Time's Up" pin because he supports the movement.
"I was so excited to win, but being in that room that night was incredible," Franco said. "I support it. I support change. I support a 50/50 (opportunity)."
Franco joins several other powerful men from Hollywood who have been accused of sexual misconduct by alleged victims. Over the past year, more and more people have spoken about the sexual abuse or harassment they've face, most notably against Harvey Weinstein.
