Palo Alto Roads To Close For Festival Of Arts

Motorists are advised to plan accordingly with University Ave. to close between High and Webster streets, among other connections.

PALO ALTO, CA — The annual Palo Alto Festival of the Arts returns to downtown this coming weekend.

Motorists may expect significant traffic delays beginning Saturday morning and ending late Sunday night, the Palo Alto Police Department cautioned.

University Avenue will be closed between High and Webster streets and will remain closed until about 11 p.m. on Sunday. Streets running north and south between Hamilton and Lytton avenues will also be closed to through traffic during the same time frame, with the exception of Cowper and Emerson streets. They will remain open during the overnight hours on Saturday night to allow north-south traffic to pass through the congested area.

Tens of thousands of people are expected this year to visit the Festival of the Arts, which features 250 artists, street painting, activities for children and even sidewalk piano virtuosos.

The popular festival is open between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on both weekend days. More on the event is listed.
