Palo Alto Fire Firefighters Return from Rim Fire
Four local firefighters part of Santa Clara County strike team assisted in containment of fire and protection of structures.

After a week out near Yosemite National Park, Palo Alto Fire fighters have returned home, according to Deputy Chief Catherine Capriles.
When they deployed on Saturday, Aug. 24 the fire had consumed 143,980 acres and was only 7 percent contained. At that time they joined 2,500 firefighters in firefighting.
As of Tuesday, Sept. 3 the fire, though it burned 235,841 acres it's now 75 percent contained.
The Rim Fire has become the fourth largest fire in California history.
