Palo Alto School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Palo Alto is August 14 for grades 9-12 and August 15 for grades K-8. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Palo Alto Unified School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

• 8/8: Teacher Work Day
• 8/9: Staff Development Day
• 8/10: Teacher Work Day
• 8/14: First Day for 9 -12 Students, No School for K-8 Students (Teacher Work Day)
• 8/15: First Day for K-8 Students

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)

October

• 10/6: No School for Students (Staff PD Day)
• 10/13: End of First Quarter

November

• 11/10: No School (Veterans Day)
• 11/20 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/21: End of Semester
• 12/22 - 1/5: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/8: K-8 Students Return to School, No School for 9 -12 Students (Teacher Work Day)
• 1/9: 9-12 Students Return to School

February

• 2/16: No School for Students (Staff PD Day)
• 2/19: No School (Washington’s Birthday)

March

• 3/9: End of Third Quarter
• 3/12: No School

April

• 4/2 - 4/6: No School (Spring Break)

May

• 5/28: No School (Memorial Day)

June

• 6/1: Last Day of School
