Phyllis Boutique Shuts Down In Palo Alto For New Venture

The 44-year-old store came to a close Aug. 31, going down with a bang including live music, dancing and bargains galore.

PALO ALTO, CA — An apparel shop that has become a fixture in downtown Palo Alto for almost a half century has closed to make way for the owner-operators' next venture.

The shop for fashionistas — Phyllis Boutique — closed a few weeks ago in a painstaking process to loyal customers, who made comments on the store's Facebook page about their dismay in the place closing up shop.

The fitting rooms and wall racks were slowly torn down, leaving a bare place during a slow downsizing. Nonetheless, the barren outlook did not deter bargain hunters from getting their last crack at the fashionable garments left.
