Restaurant Opens In South Bay After Struggling Amid Pandemic

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — A favorite Bay Area restaurant chain has opened a new restaurant after closing all of its stores in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Specialty's Cafe and Bakery has opened a new location, with an outdoor patio, at 645 Ellis St. in Mountain View. Swing by from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays for a taste of the renowned breakfast and lunch spot. Indoor dining at 25 percent capacity is also available for patrons.

"We are making a comeback. Same quality. Same passion," the company wrote on its website. "And the same commitment to the simple things... Good coffee, good service, and great cookies. The best is yet to come. Now let's eat."

The menu also includes salads, soups, breakfast, sandwiches and desserts. Catering is offered.

The re-expansion of Specialty's comes less than a year after the company permanently shuttered all 50 locations across three states on May 19, due to losses caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

"Current market conditions attributed to COVID-19 and shelter-in-place policies have decimated company revenues," a statement on the restaurant's website read.
