SJ Earthquakes At Stanford May Shake Up Traffic Patterns
The Major League Soccer game between the SJ Earthquakes and LA Galaxy slated for Saturday night is expected to bring out crowds.
PALO ALTO, CA — Major League Soccer returns to Stanford Stadium Saturday night, with the San Jose Earthquakes taking on the LA Galaxy — and with that, traffic on the road, in the stands and high overhead, Palo Alto Police cautions.
An F-16 flyover is expected to occur at 7 p.m. just before kickoff, which is anticipated to bring out an estimated attendance of 50,000 people descending on the stadium, police said.
Police expects the full attendance will prompt heavy traffic on Embarcadero Road, El Camino Real, Sand Hill Road, Oregon Expressway and surrounding streets beginning mid-afternoon. A short fireworks show at the end of the game at about 9:20 p.m. may cause the crowd to stick around until the end to see it. As a result, traffic will likely be affected in the area until 11 p.m.
