Stanford Traffic Alert: Saturday Night Quakes-Galaxy Soccer Match

Major League Soccer returns to Stanford Stadium on Saturday night, and police are warning about anticipated heavy traffic.

PALO ALTO - Palo Alto police are warning drivers of anticipated heavy traffic in the Stanford stadium area Saturday due to a professional soccer match that night.

A full house of 50,000 fans are expected for the San Jose Earthquakes/LA Galaxy shootout that begins at 7:00 p.m.

Police say they expect heavy traffic on Embarcadero Road, El Camino Real, Sand Hill Road, Oregon Expressway, and surrounding streets beginning as early as mid-afternoon.

A short fireworks show is scheduled at the end of the match, so police expect traffic will likely be affected in the area until well after 11:00 p.m. Saturday night.
