Week Ahead: Sal Khan and 29th Annual Moonlight Run & Walk

There's always something to do in Palo Alto. Catch these events around town this week.

Monday, Sept. 16

  • Enjoy a local brew with your Patxi’s pizza in Palo Alto as Los Altos' Strike Brewing takes over the taps. Strike Brewing Company’s co-Founder and Brewmaster Drew Ehrlich will be on hand to discuss their beers, lead tableside tastings and shoot the breeze with guests. Ehrlich, a Stanford grad and former pitcher for their baseball team (hence the Strike title) started Strike Brewing Company in 2008 with two other athlete friends. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 441 Emerson St.

Thursday, Sept. 19

  • The Commonwealth Club of Silicon Valley presents Sal Khan, founder of the Khan Academy and Author of "The One World Schoolhouse: Education Re-imagined," at the Crowne Plaza Cabana, 4290 El Camino Real on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. He'll share how Khan Academy has helped schools bring creativity back into classrooms and revolutionize the educational system.

Save the Date: Friday, Sept. 20

  • Get your running shoes ready for the 29th Annual Moonlight Run & Walk in Palo Alto at the Baylands Athletic Center. Start time 6 p.m. Consider a 5k or 10k run under the full Harvest moon. Pre-registration for the run is available ONLINE only. Early deadline pre-registration closed Friday Sept. 13, but late and event-day registration remains open and includes a t-shirt only while supplies last. Registration tables open at 6 p.m. Sports teams and club group discounts available. This event is co-presented by the City of Palo Alto and the Palo Alto Weekly.
