Weekend Planner: Abstract Art Show, HazMat Drop Off, Music in the Park

Get inspired with Pacific Art League's newest exhibits "Figures and Faces" and "Abstractions and Realities," which kicks off this Friday with an opening reception between 5:30 and 8 p.m. Free. Located at 227 Forest Ave.

Most City of Palo Alto administrative offices will be closed due to a special 9/80 work schedule in which 80 hours of work (in a two week work period) is completed within 9 days. 

Saturday, Aug. 3


Drop off your household hazardous waste at the Regional Water Quality Control Plan, 2501 Embarcadero Way from 9 a.m. until Noon. This service is for Palo Alto residents only. Materials accepted include used or expired medication, paints, solvents, fuels, cleaners, pesticides, etc., which contain hazardous substances. This event happens, rain or shine.

Enjoy the music of Doctor Noize sounds during the Twilight Concert Series at Mitchell Park from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Free. Local food trucks will be at every Twilight Concert. Try some new food or bring a picnic, and relax on the grass. Free.

Learn about the history of Russian visual arts, poetry and film with poet and translator Alexander Leyzerovich and scholar Boris Bernshtein at the every first Saturday at the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center from 7 to 9 p.m. Cost: $5 Members and Seniors, $7 Non-Members. Pay at the Door. Location: 3921 Fabian Way.
