Bestselling author and autistic activist Dr. Temple Grandin, an animal science professor at Colorado State University, will speak, take audience questions and sign her book at the The Media Center in Palo Alto at 900 San Antonio Rd. Event starts at 7 p.m. Event hosted by Abilities United Presents.

Learn how to compost with worms because they'll eat your kitchen scraps and then create nutrient soil. Cubberley Community Center, 4000 Middlefield Rd., Room H-1 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Register at 408-918-4640.
Picnic and enjoy children's theatre with Hans Christian Anderson’s classic story, The Ugly Duckling at the Roy Ginsburg Magic Castle Stage at Children’s Theatre, 305 Middlefield Rd., from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Swing to the sounds of the Dave Rocha Jazz Group during the summer's outdoor Twilight Concert Series from 7 to 8 p.m. at Mitchell Park. Local food trucks will be parked nearby.
Tia Fuller, a jazz educator and soulful multi-reed player, brings a unique dynamism to her music and Her work evokes the ’60s Blue Note era as well as contemporary jazz sounds. She performs Saturday, July 27 at 8 p.m. at the Campbell Recital Hall in the Braun Music Center (Map). Prices between $15 (students) to $45.

Are you a fan of Mad Men? Then you'll enjoy Ad Men: Advertising in Prints, 1960s –1970s at the Freidenrich Family Galley at the Cantor Arts Center, just off Palm Drive on Museum Way and Lomita Drive. Exhibit through Dec. 1, 2013. The exhibit looks at the commercial work of many famous artists including Andy Warhol, Ed Ruscha, James Rosenquist and Roy Lichtenstein, among others.
