2 Arrested in Connection with Pasadena Burglaries

Police find the suspects not too far from the scene allegedly carrying burglary tools and items believed to have come from a previous burglary, police say.

Two men were arrested in Pasadena on suspicion of committing several burglaries at an apartment building's underground parking structure for about a week, police said Sunday.

Christopher Shackerford, 19, and Jose Algaza, 26, both of Pasadena, were on bicycles outside the structure in the 200 block of N. Los Robles Avenue around 2:50 a.m. Saturday when they were spotted by a witness who called the police, said Lt. Jason Clawson of the Pasadena Police Department.

"They looked suspicious because there had been burglaries there that week," Clawson said.

Police found the suspects not too far from the scene allegedly carrying burglary tools and items believed to have come from a previous burglary, the lieutenant said.

The suspects also had a garage door opener to the apartment building's underground, although they don't live there, according to Clawson.

Shackerford and Algaza were arrested on suspicion of burglary and were booked at the Pasadena Police Department.

A warrant served Saturday at one of the suspect's residences led to finding more allegedly stolen items.
