Arraignment Set For Man Who Allegedly Killed Mother In Pasadena

Held on $2.1 million bail

A Pasadena man who allegedly called the police and told them he killed his mother was charged Thursday with murder. 30-year-old Alex Evans was ordered to be held on a $2.1 million bail while he awaits arraignment Oct. 10 in a Pasadena courtroom.

“Alex Evans, 30, was charged with the stabbing death of his 67-year-old mother, Katrina Evans, along with an allegation he used a knife in the commission of the crime,” according to Ricardo Santiago, spokesman for the Los Angeles Country District Attorneys Office.

The charges could yield Evans a 26 years to life sentence according to Santiago.

“Police ... received a call from a man stating he killed his mother,” according to a statement released by the Pasadena Police Department. “Police dispatch kept the suspect on the line while officers responded to the
scene.”

They arrested the woman’s son around 9:15 p.m. Monday in the 1100 block of Mentor Avenue in Pasadena, where police found the woman dead from multiple stab wounds, according to police.

There was no immediate word on a motive for the attack.
