Caltech Student Teams Create Mars Moon Missions
The school brought in students from 21 different universities to create a plans to send astronauts to a Mars moon.
Caltech brought in students from around the globe and gave them five days to craft plans on how to place an astronaut on one of the moons on Mars -- and they did, according to Pasadena Sun story.
The school divided the pool of 32 students from 21 schools into two teams named after JPL-manned projects: Voyager and Explorer. What ensued for the students was an odyssey of sleep-free days and nights and plenty of advice from mentors from NASA, JPL and Lockheed Martin. Each group presented their plan to an expert panel, and the winners of the competition were announced Friday.
