Ceremony to Celebrate Renaming of Rose Bowl Press Box

The press box will be renamed the Terry Donahue Pavilion.

A dedication ceremony to rename Rose Bowl press box the Terry Donahue Pavilion will be held between the first and second quarters of tonight's UCLA-California football game.

A committee of several prominent business executives that included former UCLA football player Andy Meyers was formed to raise $3 million to assist with the renovation of the press box, including the construction of suites, and have it associated with a UCLA figure.

Donahue, UCLA's winningest football coach, was selected last year to be the honoree.

"For the first time in my life, I was speechless," Donahue said at the time. "It is almost overwhelming because we never envisioned having the pavilion with my name on it. That was never even a consideration for us. To have that is really hard to put into words."

Donahue coached UCLA from 1976-1995, compiling a 151-74-8 record, including victories in the 1983, 1984 and 1986 Rose Bowl Games. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2002.

"Terry Donahue's accomplishments on the field during his time with the UCLA football program are legendary," UCLA athletic director Dan Guerrero said. "Those accomplishments pale in comparison to Terry's character and integrity.

"He is a tremendous ambassador for the program, the athletic department, the university and the game of football in general. I cannot think of a person more deserving of this honor than TD."
