A space at 58 S. Raymond Ave that is owned by and adjacent to new coffee and tea shop Copa Vida is hosting a free art show with a charitable angle Tuesday Aug. 6 from 7-10 p.m.
Copa Vida is sponsoring the one-night-only show that is donation-only and providing coffee.
DJ Tiny Giants will spin at the show displaying art by Jane Byon and Annie Seo.
Red Thread, a non-profit that combines fashion and philanthropy by raising awareness and resources for causes like combatting human trafficking, will be selling clothing and purses with all proceeds going to non-profit Express Eden.
The space holding tonight's event hopes to be a gallery space for a few other shows before transforming into a creative arts studio in two to three months called Lost and Found (LAF) Studio.
LAF Studio will be a space where people can walk in and create something, take art classes or rent the space for an art party.
Co-founder Elena Chang, wife of Copa Vida owner Steve Chang, likened LAF to a space like Paint the Town in San Marino, whose motto is, "fun art, not fine art."
"We want people to feel safe and that art is accessible to them," Chang told Patch. "We want them to enjoy exploring and experimenting with art."
Chang described the Lost and Found name: "When you start art you often feel lost, but you dive into it and find things about yourself."
Co-founder Kacy Rogers is passionate about jewelry and hosting jewelry-making classes but also wants to focus on different arts and crafts each month or so.
LAF also wants to sell items made by artists and people that support causes like helping the homeless, stopping human trafficking and aiding military families.
What do you think of a space like LAF Studios opening in Pasadena?
