Cinco de Mayo 2013 in Pasadena
Mariachis, "Mexitalian" food, comedy and tequila galore are just part of Pasadena's Cinco de Mayo festivities this weekend.

Sunday is Cinco de Mayo or “Cinco de Drinko” for those looking for an excuse to get particularly wild over the weekend.
Pasadena restaurants, bars and other spots are celebrating--some more authentically than others--with different ways to eat, drink and be merry.

Take note that the Pasadena Police Department will have a DUI checkpoint at an undisclosed location Friday and a “zero tolerance” DUI saturation patrol on Saturday.
Mijares
The Mexican restaurant founded in 1920 is kicking off their Cinco de Mayo celebration Thursday and going through Sunday. Pasadena Restaurant Week shared that the festivities will feature: Jesucita’s Fiesta Room, party tent by Sauza, tequila sampling, Trio Mariachi, Trio Tesorito, raffles and Chef Antonio Campos’ Mexican regional specialties. Mijares’ main location is 145 Palmetto Drive, Pasadena. Their other location is 1806 E. Washington St., Pasadena.

El Cholo
The Paseo Colorado restaurant shared on facebook that its Cinco de Mayo festivities will include: Happy Hour from 5-7 p.m., tequila shots with their Tequileras and a live mariachi band from 7-10 p.m. El Cholo Café is at 260 E. Colorado Blvd., Suite 203.
“Cinque de Mayo” at Trattoria Neapolis
The Italian restaurant at 336 South Lake Avenue used what it knows to create “Cinque de Mayo,” an Italian-Mexican celebration. They’ll be serving up tequila cocktails and “Mexitalian” sliders, aka Tortas Ahogadas Bolognese with shortrib Bolognese, Guajillo chili, cotija cheese and avocado on a housemade focaccia bun.
The Ladies of Cinco de Mayo at the Ice House
Five female comics will take the stage Sunday starting at 7 p.m. The show features Monique Marvez (Showtime), Melissa Villasenor (Last Comic Standing), Marcella Arguello, Retha Jones (Comic Relief, Premium Blend) and Gina Brillon (Comedy Central, MTV3s) The show is 18 and over and has a two drink minimum per person .
