Cool Temps In Store As Storm System Skirts LA Region

LOS ANGELES, CA — A few mountain showers are expected Monday on a mostly cloudy day, with sunnier and warmer conditions expected Tuesday, followed by cooler and breezier conditions Wednesday, forecasters said.

A cold upper low is spinning west of Southern California, far enough away that it poses no real threat of precipitation to the Southland this morning, according to a National Weather Service statement.

But there is a chance of showers Monday afternoon in the San Gabriel Valley, the San Gabriel Mountains in L.A. and Ventura counties, and the foothills in the Antelope Valley, it said. If any rain materializes, it will amount to less than a quarter-inch, according to the NWS, followed by a chance of showers overnight.

The NWS forecast mostly cloudy skies in L.A. County Monday and highs of 46 degrees on Mount Wilson, where snow showers are expected; 57 in Palmdale and Avalon; 58 in Lancaster; 61 in Saugus; 64 at LAX; 65 in Long Beach, San Gabriel and Burbank; 66 in Downtown L.A., Pasadena and Woodland Hills.

Mostly cloudy skies are also forecast in Orange County Monday, along with highs of 42 on Santiago Peak; 54 on Ortega Highway at 2,600 feet; 59 in San Clemente; 60 in Laguna Beach; 61 in Fremont Canyon; 62 in Trabuco Canyon and Newport Beach; 64 in Mission Viejo; 65 in Yorba Linda; 66 in Irvine; and 67 in Fullerton and Anaheim.

Mostly sunny weather is forecast in L.A. and Orange counties over the next six days, though Tuesday will be only partly cloudy in L.A. County.
