Renatta Cooper has been re-elected to a third term as president of the Pasadena Unified School District's Board of Education, according to a release from PUSD. The 4-2 vote to re-elect Cooper occurred at the board's Tuesday meeting, the release states.
“I am honored to be selected for a third year as this board’s president and look forward to working with my colleagues for the academic achievement of all children in the district,” said Cooper in a released statement. “I would also like to discuss the possibility of adding a president-elect to work collaboratively for our students.”
Cooper's stint on the PUSD board began in 2007, and the PUSD release notes early childhood education and "stronger engagement of parents and the community." The former is Cooper's specialty, having taught child development programs at Pacific Oaks College. Her first term as PUSD president was in 2011.
