Heat Wave Brings Triple Digit Temps Back
A heat advisory was issued for parts of the San Fernando Valley through the weekend.
LOS ANGELES, CA — The Southland's third heat wave of the summer descended on the region Friday, sending San Fernando Valley temperatures back into three-digit territory.
The heat wave results from high pressure aloft spreading into Southern California, combined with a weakening in the onshore flow, said National Weather Service meteorologist Curt Kaplan. Temperatures will begin declining Monday.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health issued a heat alert for the western San Fernando Valley that will be in effect Saturday and Sunday, urging people to take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
