Heavy Traffic Expected for Colombia-Paraguay Soccer Match at Rosebowl

PASADENA, CA - Pasadena police advised the public to expect "large crowds and heavy vehicle traffic" as teams from Colombia and Paraguay tangle Tuesday night in the Copa America Centenario soccer tournament.

Plan ahead and arrive early for the 7:30 p.m. match at the Rose Bowl, police said.

Road closures went into effect at 10 a.m. and parking lots opened at 3:30 p.m., according to the Pasadena Police Department.

The Rose Bowl will also host Thursday night's match between Mexico and Jamaica, the former being a huge draw in Southern California. Lots open at 3 p.m. for that match, which is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

"Plan alternative means of travel to the Rose Bowl and arrive early," according to a police statement. "Affordable and convenient options include riding the Gold Line into Pasadena, exit at Holly Street and take the shuttle from Parson's parking lot, located two blocks west ... at (the intersection of) Holly Street and Fair Oaks Avenue."

Carpooling is also advised.

The Rose Bowl Operating Company will have staff in nearby neighborhoods to address any potential problems that residents might encounter and has a hotline available at (626) 397-4141.
