UPDATED: Pasadena Crash Splits Car In Two, Killing 2 And Injuring 2
A vehicle split in two around a power pole, killing two people and snarling traffic during the morning rush hour.

PASADENA, CA: A crash involving a Ford Mustang and an SUV at Lake Avenue and E. Villa Street in Pasadena killed two people and injured two others Wednesday morning, officials said.
The crash happened at around 7 a.m. and speed was a factor, a fire official said.

Photos from the scene showed a car split in two around a traffic pole, as firefighters and emergency responders surrounded the vehicle.

Four men were in the Mustang, two were killed and the other was critically injured, said Lisa Derderian of the Pasadena Fire Department. The driver, a 23-year-old man died at the scene and his passenger, a 17-year-old boy sitting in the front seat, died at the hospital. The 42-year-old female driverof the SUV was treated for minor injuries, she said.
The identities of the men were not released pending notification of families.
The crash caused a major traffic jam in the area during the morning rush.
Another major crash nearby later in the morning added to an already tough traffic day.
At around 11 a.m. a solo rollover crash occurred at Holly Vista Drive and Linda Vista Road, about 2.5 miles from the morning fatal crash. One person was seriously injured in that crash, police said.
Lake Avenue and E. Villa Street were reopenned shortly before 1 p.m.
