Oregon residents Judy Yin Shih and Joel Axelrod used to live in San Marino.

Judy Yin Shih and Joel Axelrod, an Oregon couple who used to live in San Marino, recently donated $2 million to go toward the second development phase of the Huntington's Chinese Garden, according to a release on the Huntington's website.
Specifically, the donation will fuel the construction of the garden's Clear and Transcendant Pavilion, which will be seen at the edge of the lake of the garden's undeveloped north side. According to the Huntington, the pavilion will be a go-to space for presentations of Chinese music, opera and dance.
