iPic’s Salt Lounge Hosting Sports Viewing, NFL Kick-off Party

Pasadena’s upscale iPic Theaters—formerly called Gold Class Cinemas—in the One Colorado courtyard have more going on than in-theater comfy reclining seats and food and drink service.

Salt lounge on one of the below ground levels at iPic is a good-sized dimly-lit escape with couches and modern posh décor plus a menu of gourmet food and creative cocktails.

You may not know Salt exists since it’s literally underground and can’t be seen if you walk by or you may assume you have to purchase tickets for an iPic movie to access the lounge. 

While iPic’s appearance and ticket cost may convey exclusivity, a bouncer won’t be checking to see you have a movie ticket before you enter Salt. It’s open to everyone.

Salt recently installed several big flat screens in order to host sports viewing on certain days and is having an NFL kick-off party Sept. 5 at 5:30 p.m., iPic marketing manager Allison Piccolo told Patch at an Aug. 1 event where “Mr. Pasadena” was a celebrity bartender for the evening. 

Mr. Pasadena mixed and served his namesake cosmo cocktail created for the Salt event with triple sec, Belvedere vodka, lime juice, cranberry juice and a lime garnish.

Salt’s football-viewing menu includes beer buckets and 50-cent wings among other quintessential sports bites.

Giveaways will also be a part of the Sept. 5 kick-off and Salt will also hold drawings every week for prizes that include the chance to win $100,000.

Other ongoing Salt events include happy hour Monday through Friday from 4-6 p.m. with $2 beers, $3 house wines and discounted food and a wine tasting event with cheese on the last Wednesday of each month.
