Making Connections: The Intersection of Culture, Art and Design
The Masters Series Spring Term Presented by Pasadena Senior Center Will Be Virtual via Zoom March 16 to April 27

The spring term of The Masters Series, which embraces lifelong learning and is presented by the Pasadena Senior Center, will be virtual via Zoom for people 50 and older Tuesdays, March 16 to April 27, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Membership at the center and Pasadena residency are not required.
The series will be led by Eleanor Schrader, professor emeritus of art and art history at Santa Monica College and a worldwide lecturer on architecture, interiors and decorative arts. She did graduate work in fine and decorative arts at Sotheby’s Institute in London and New York and served as a design review commissioner for the City of Beverly Hills. She co-authored the book “Master Architects of Southern California, 1920-1940: Wallace Neff.”

The schedule is as follows:
• March 16: Symbolism and Meaning in Prehistoric and Ancient Art
• March 23: Early Writing Forms, Iconography in Early Religious and Medieval Art
• March 30: Gothic Through Rococo Design and the Incorporation of Asian and Islamic Art in Western Design
• April 6: French Realism, the Industrial Revolution and the Response of the Arts and Crafts Movement
• April 13: Victorian Art and Art Nouveau
• April 20: Late 19th and Early 20th Century Poster Art and Graphic Design and the Rise of Propaganda Art
• April 27: 20th Century Design from Bauhaus Through the Art Deco and Midcentury Eras

The cost for the seven-week term is only $90 for members of the center and $105 for nonmembers.

The center, at 85 E. Holly St., is an independent, donor-supported nonprofit organization that has been serving older adults for more than 60 years. During the pandemic, doors are open from 8 a. m. to 4:30 p. m. for social services and other critical services for older adults in need. Masks and social distancing are required.
