By City News Service

A man who reportedly ran into an apartment complex while armed with a handgun and being chased by Pasadena police was shot and wounded by officers and taken into custody, police said today.

Patrol officers responded to a call of a fight in progress at 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1400 block of North Garfield Avenue, police said in a news release.

"When officers attempted to detain the suspect, he fled on foot into an apartment complex, where an officer involved shooting ultimately occurred," police said. "The suspect sustained a non-life-threatening injury to his arm, believed to have been caused during the suspect's flight from officers," the police release said. Officers recovered a firearm, it stated.

The suspect was transported to a hospital for treatment, police said. No officers or civilians were injured.

Pasadena police detectives continue to investigate the shooting.
