Motorist, 20, Arrested In Hit-And-Run Crash In Pasadena
A 20-year-old man from Victorville was arrested in connection to a fatal hit-and-run that killed a 64-year-old man in Pasadena.
PASADENA, CA — A 20-year-old motorist is under arrest in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a 64-year-old man in Pasadena, authorities said Saturday.
The motorist has been identified as Alberto Fernandez of Victorville, Pasadena Police Lt. Marcia Taglioretti said.
The crash occurred near the intersection of Orange Grove Boulevard and Marengo Avenue at 9 p.m. Friday, according to the Pasadena Police Department.

Paramedics pronounced the 64-year-old man dead at the scene, Taglioretti said. His name will be released pending notification of next of kin, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
Fernandez was detained several hours after the crash in Monrovia by the California Highway Patrol, according to Taglioretti. He was taken into custody at 12:56 a.m. by the Pasadena Police Department, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Inmate Information Center, and was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

It was not immediately known what led the CHP to detain Fernandez.
The fatal crash occurred about one block north of the fatal shooting of a man in the area of Marengo Avenue and Parke Street at 8:10 p.m. Friday.
