Men Kick Off Movember With a Shave in Old Town (Photos)
In honor of men's health, King's Row Gastropub hosted a Movember Shave the Date party Thursday where men got a clean moustache-growing canvas from 18|8 salon.
Happy Movember! Time to raise men’s health awareness, particularly of prostate and testicular cancer, by growing a moustache.
King’s Row Gastropub in Old Town started off this year’s Movember on Thursday with a pig roast, Movember beer mugs and an 18|8 Salon shaving station on the patio so men could start their faces off fresh. 18|8 is currently in Paseo Colorado but will be moving to the Commons center on South Lake Avenue soon.
Plenty of moustache paraphernalia was present, including stick-on ‘staches and moustaches on a stick to make for many facebook profile photo-worthy images, and signs emblazoned with “Decision 2012: Which Mo Will You Grow?” and a ‘stache instead of a political candidate’s name. Imagine how united the country could be if those were posted in front yards.

King’s Row is offering a special Movember mug—a dandy mason jar with a handle—that comes with a pint and gets you a dollar off a beer when you bring it in through the month of November. Part of Eagle Rock Brewery beer purchase proceeds at King’s Row this month also go toward the Movember men’s health movement, so perhaps hipsters can lay off the Pabst Blue Ribbon for now.
