Officer Shoots Alleged Gun-Toting Suspect

The incident happened during a routine patrol Friday morning.

A man who allegedly pointed a gun at Pasadena police at the end of a short foot chase was shot by an officer today and hospitalized in unknown condition.

According to police, two officers on routine patrol approached a 23-year- old man around 10 a.m. near Hammond Street and Morton Avenue, but the man fled.

The officers pursued the man, who ran into the Kings Villages housing complex and allegedly produced a handgun "in a threatening manner," police said.

One officer opened fire, hitting the man. A gun was recovered at the scene, police said.

No officers were injured during the chase and shooting, police said.
