Pasadena Celebrates Local Businesses With 626 Day

The day is meant to encourage shoppers to head to Pasadena businesses that have been battered during the pandemic.

PASADENA, CA — As businesses continue their recovery from the pandemic, Pasadena officials are throwing a celebration of the city’s local merchants Saturday to help kick-off the summer.

Dubbed “626 Day,” the event is a partnership between the city and the Pasadena Convention and Visitors Bureau to “bring attention to Pasadena’s unique and local merchants,” organizers said in a statement.

Participating businesses and restaurants will offer a 6.26 percent discount on items as well as have giveaways and food and drink specials.

Michelle Garrett, a special projects manager for the city’s economic development team, said in a statement the timing for the event felt right especially after California lifted its coronavirus restrictions earlier this month.

“We hope that people go out and support our small and local independent businesses,” she said. “They’ve endured such a long year with these COVID-related restrictions … they’re what make our community so special and differentiate us from other regions and cities in the area.”
