Pasadena Dance Theatre Holding Auditions for Scholarship
High school juniors and seniors who live in Pasadena or attend school in the Pasadena Unified School District can audition for the $1,000 scholarship.

Pasadena Dance Theatre will be holding auditions in March for the Pasadena Arts Council's annual $1,000 Young Artist Award Scholarship in Dance.
Participants must be high school juniors and seniors, and must either live in Pasadena or go to school within the Pasadena Unified School District. The audition welcomes all genres of dance, and while formal training is not essential, those who want to hit the audition floor need to be "well-versed" in their preferred style, according to a release from Pasadena Dance Theatre.
“It’s an honor to oversee the dance auditions for the Pasadena Arts Council," said Cynthia Young, artistic director of Pasadena Dance Theatre in a released statement. "There’s so much talent in this community, and we’re delighted to take part in recognizing the skill and dedication of young artists.”

According to the theatre, dancers must submit a personal artist’s statement by March 2. This statement should include at least two items:
- How dance affects the dancer’s life
- What the scholarship would mean to the dancer
Dancers will be invited to take an audition class at Pasadena Dance Theatre (1985 E. Locust St.) later in March. Dancers should be ready to perform a solo and also show an original improvisation based upon instructions during the audition.
