Pasadena Highlighted in Upcoming Theodore Payne Native Plant Garden Tour
The 10th annual self-guided tour will take place over two days and includes gardens in Pasadena and nearby.

If you have any doubt about spring’s arrival, the self-guided 10th annual Theodore Payne Native Plant Garden Tour is happening April 6 and 7 and gardens in Pasadena and nearby communities will be open for viewing on that Saturday.
The Theodore Payne Foundation for Wild Flowers and Native Plants, Inc., is “a nonprofit organization established in 1960 to promote knowledge and appreciation of California’s native flora and our natural heritage,” according to the organization.
Garden 11 in Pasadena, one of several that will be open April 6 for the tour, is described on the event’s website:

The front yard of this eight-year-old, owner-designed 1/3-acre “eclectic green space” includes drought-tolerant native and non-native plants, a dry stream bed beneath an old incense cedar, and a low-care parking strip. Behind the classic Bungalow-style home, featured in American Bungalow magazine, natives are paired with succulents and also used to attract pollinators to herbs, vegetables and mature fruit trees. Recipient of Pasadena Beautiful’s Golden Arrow Award and featured in Fall 2012 American Bungalow magazine.
