Pasadena Police Focusing on Motorcycle Safety Sunday

Additional officers will patrol motorcycle-popular areas.

Pasadena police will conduct a specialized motorcycle safety enforcement operation Sunday in an effort to lower deaths and injuries.

Extra officers will patrol areas frequented by motorcycles and where motorcycle crashes occur.

They will crack down on drivers of motorcycles and other vehicles under the influence of drugs or alcohol, speeding, making illegal turns or committing other dangerous violations.

There have been no fatal motorcycle crashes in Pasadena this year and one in 2012, said Lt. Pete Hettema of the Pasadena Police Department.

There have been 19 collisions involving motorcycles this year, 15 resulting in injuries,

There were 42 collisions involving motorcycles in 2012 with 35 resulting in injuries.
