Pasadena Tech Company Wins $29 Million Grant for Clean Water Project

Tetra Tech Inc. won a $29 million government grant to help ub- Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia establish clean water supplies.

PASADENA, CA - Tetra Tech Inc. announced today it won a $29 million contract from the U.S. Agency for International Development to establish improved water supply, sanitation and hygiene in priority countries within sub- Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia.

Under the five-year project, Tetra Tech officials said they will work with USAID's Global Health Bureau to increase access to clean water and promote improved sanitation behaviors in rural areas.

Nearly one-third of the world's population, and in particular women and children, lacks access to proper sanitation facilities and clean water resources, according to Tetra Tech.

The Pasadena-based company "will support USAID and local governments in 24 high-priority countries by providing short-term technical assistance and developing and testing new technologies to address sanitation and water resource issues," according to a Tetra Tech statement.

Tetra Tech will also "identify best practices to promote better hygiene behaviors and rural sanitation with the goal of improving access to water resources, services and infrastructure."
